While some shops use the terms interchangeably, we follow the general rule of thumb that an antique is an item that is estimated to be 100 or more years old. Vintage encompasses a wider time period, but we typically use it to mean an item that is more than thirty years old and from a distinct era, i.e., “midcentury” or “the 80’s. (We’re going to continue ignoring the teens calling the late nineties and early aughts “vintage”). From time to time, we may call something retro. Typically, we mean that the age is indeterminably vintage or just old enough to evoke a sense of nostalgia.
All products listed as “antique” or “vintage” are carefully curated and offered for sale as-is. We will make every effort to describe the item, including any defects or quirks, and listed prices will reflect such considerations. So, if you’re eyeing a teapot, a doll, or a hen-on-a-nest, you can expect that the item has been previously owned and cherished, and may be discolored, chipped, or worn. If you have any questions about an item you are considering, please email us at info@audsandens.com or message us on our Facebook page. We’d be happy to help you.
While we adore a good story about your Nana’s wedding china or the treasure trove of collectables that your great-uncle amassed in his old barn, we are unable to accept consignments.
You may be a former consigner with Aud’s and En’s (we’ve been around The Grove in a few iterations!), but as we’ve expanded into gifts, we have shifted our vintage and antique offerings to our own personal collections. Please don’t let that stop you from sharing an interesting tale! We wouldn’t be here if not for our passion for and fascination with a good hand-me-down or estate sale.
